Stosowanie inhibitorów reduktazy HMG-coa jest przeciwwskazany u pacjentów z aktywną chorobą wątroby lub niewyjaśnione, zagorzały zwiększenie aktywności aminotransferaz w surowicy krwi. Reduktazy HMG-coa jest intensywnie metabolizowany w wątrobie. Obniżony metabolizm leku może prowadzić do gromadzenia się i zwiększa ryzyko toksyczności, w tym biochemiczne zaburzenia czynności wątroby i, rzadko, żółtaczka, zapalenie wątroby, marskość wątroby, zmiany tłuszczowych w wątrobie i błyskawiczne wątroby martwica. Terapia z inhibitorów reduktazy HMG-coa powinien być podawany z ostrożnością u pacjentów z chorobami wątroby w wywiadzie i/lub nadmierne spożywanie alkoholu. Zmniejszenie dawki początkowej może być konieczne, i zaleca się kliniczne monitorowanie poziomu transaminaz wątroby według indywidualnej opakowań oznakowania. Pacjenci, którzy opracowują podwyższony poziom ALT i AST poziomów podczas leczenia należy kontrolować do anormalność rozwiązania.
